In our recent project we had the opportunity to show design variation ranging from soft feminine patterns, to playful quirky notes, to clean and minimalistic interiors.
As a designer we not only understand the client’s functional requirements but also their personality.
While designing a bedroom it’s always the bed that takes the Centre stage, the focal point around which all other elements are synchronized .
It’s also so tricky because it’s such a personal space that what might be the perfect solution for us as a designer, may not be something that a client’s personality may resonate to. So what do we do?
Well we do our briefing sessions really well. As a designer we not only understand the client’s functional requirements but also their personality. In a family, every member has their own ideas, own tastes and preferences and for us the biggest challenge is to cater to all moods and aesthetics but tie it together in a manner that it all blends harmoniously under one roof.
In our recent project we had the opportunity to show design variation ranging from soft feminine patterns, to playful quirky notes, to clean and minimalistic interiors.
Daughter’s room- “The Timeless Bed”
There’s a certain softness and dreaminess about this room, the bed is a tall headboard upholstered in custom dyed Italian Nubuck ( shade Carolina by ZuMa) complemented beautifully by Hand painted Silk on the panels. With cantilevered base and sideboards, adorned with strip lighting and custom nobs, this bed is fit for a princess to grow into a graceful young lady without having to worry about changing the interiors every now and then.
Son’s Room – “ The Hobby Bed “
At the age of 8 a child seldom worries about interior concepts or high end finishes. But what’s special about this age is the ability to dream and aspire which is so individualistic to the child that we have to be extremely careful that we keep the charm and the joy and the sheer innocence intact in this space. The bed for this room comprises of solid walnut paneling , made exciting by incorporating a custom oil painted portrait of “Virat Kohli “ captain of the Indian cricket team and the child’s idol. Alongside the back panel we have niches with spot lighting to accentuate all the fun books and quirky artifacts to add playfulness and character into the space. The headboard is upholstered in custom dyed Italian Nubuck ( shade Manhattan by ZuMa). What’s special about this bed is that it’s very adaptable to change, just by turning a few elements around it can mature with the child .
The Master Bedroom- “ The sophisticated Bed”
This bed is minimalistic yet characteristic . When we first entered this room on site, though it was the master room, it was fairly small in comparison to the other rooms and was surrounded by floor to ceiling windows and a breathtaking view of the ocean on all sides. Since the view was already the undisputed star for this place we wanted to design a bed that makes the room look bigger, complements the serenity of the view outside and yet look luxurious enough to do justice to the address where it is being designed. So we went for clean lines, soft tones , a short headboard and a cantilevered upholstered bed base & sideboards with strip lighting to create the elusion of space. The headboards are upholstered in custom dyed Italian Nubuck (shade Aruba by ZuMa ) and the sideboards have customized onyx lamps that add glamour to the design.
So guys you might not be making your bed very often, but when you do, make it like no one’s business
Happy day!
